The United Kingdom is set to offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to all 16 and 17 year olds, stated the country’s vaccine advisers, as eligibility of the vaccine was extended to children beyond the clinically vulnerable.
Britain′s Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) stated that it has updated the initial advice considering changes in the spread of the disease in younger age groups, and the updated safety data. Wei Shen Lim, JCVI′s COVID-19 Chair, said that following careful consideration of the latest data available, they advise that healthy individuals aged 16 to 17 years be offered a first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and advice on when to give the second vaccine dose will be given later… (NDTV – Reuters, August 4, 2021)
